What's truly remarkable is how kelp has mastered the art of turning turbulence into triumph. Scientists have discovered that wave action actually enhances kelp's ability to absorb nutrients, as the movement increases water exchange around their blades.

This phenomenon, known as enhanced mass transfer, means that areas with stronger wave action often support more vigorous kelp growth - a brilliant example of turning what might appear to be an environmental challenge into a competitive advantage.
